The library – Eleven Gables Inn and Cottage

Experience the best view of the lake from The Library, with a private bath, Wi-Fi. Relax on the front veranda and enjoy free movie streaming. This accommodation is for those who do not want or like air
conditioning and prefer a good lake breeze.

Built in the 1870’s as a lake house by a wealthy Chicago businessman for his concubine. The inn has original flooring and woodwork with 9 foot ceilings of plaster and lath.

Before refrigeration Geneva Lake and Powers Lake because of their clear clean water, were farmed for their ice and shipped to Chicago. The estate still has the original ice house which is now part of the inn. Unfortunately because of rapid climate change most winters Geneva Lake no longer freezes over.
