Nurturing Growth and Stability: The Role of Indigenous Seeds in Supporting Vulnerable Farmers in Ind

Green Foundation’s initiative to support small-scale and marginal farmers in vulnerable communities in India began in the mid-nineties with an initial project distributing indigenous seed varieties. This project quickly grew into a comprehensive biodiversity conservation program, which has since become a cornerstone of our efforts. Working closely with local farmers, we engaged in extensive research to explore the unique properties of various indigenous seeds. We managed to identify and collect a wide range of minor millets, dry land paddy, and oil seeds, which underwent further experimentation. Within just a few years, the scope of our outreach expanded, growing to support an increasing number of farmers.
